OK Ponies, trainers and crew...
Who's marching this year? I have a firm commitment on Mistress Liliane and Cayenne, Ronin, and the Seattle crew. I may have to make a diva appearance due to family responsibilities, but I want to help pull this together. It sounds like it's going to be straight forward walking down Market street. We have a commitment from Phil of the Citadel, who will be driving the truck, to not speed up if they tell him too. Last year's sprint was a disaster. We're staying together this year.
Let me know if you have any questions. If we get a big crew we might need more parade monitors for safety. So, if anyone wants to participate in support, please let me know [wilcox.rebecca@yahoo.com].
Let's show our pride,
Ponymistress Rebecca

Re: SF Pony Pride 2008 (June 29th)
Sat, June 21, 2008 - 11:56 AMLast Saturday I went to the Leather Contingent meeting. I came back with some great info about the pony carts and the Pride management.
This year I will be driving the truck so there will be no running, I will keep the truck slow enough that a fast walk is as fast as we go in the Citadel contingent. The Citadel contingent is with the Leather Contingent, the largest contingent in the parade.
The carts, ponies and riders are welcome. Please be aware of the pace of the parade and don't demonstrate your skills by running back and forth across market street for more than 30 seconds at a time. Last year we slowed the people behind us by demonstrating a little too long once the parade started to move again after a stop. We need to be mindful of the pace of the parade at all times.
This year they expect an additional 40,000 marchers because of the new same sex marriage rules set by the California Courts. It is going to be bigger and better than ever.
I will warn the marchers in front of you that you are pulling carts and can not to stop suddenly. You have much more inertia than a marcher and need room to stop both the cart and yourself. I don't want anyone hurt.
The mantra is "no one gets hurt"
I am driving because each of the last two years we went so fast we broke into a run. We had two blown out knees and we don't want that again.
Last year, August had to drop out of the parade and walk down the sidewalk alone because of running and was hit in the face by a man who didn't like her "bisexual" pin on her vest. If only she had had some friends with her, that guy would have been handed over to the police a little worse for wear.
If you can take the monitor training, please do so. the schedule is on:
www.sfpride.org.
Bring water, lots of water, sun block and have a great time
We don't yet know where we will meet but usually it's on Beale and Howard. We need to be there by nine in the morning.
Remember we are all going to have a great time so lets rock pride again and have a great pony day. This is only the second year we have had pony carts in Pride. Lets start a tradition.
Phil
